Since 1996, GEL has organized 10 annual meetings of a global "community of practice" that involves over one hundred practitioners from major companies and public institutions, consultants, and executives interested in learning and education.
These gatherings are by-invitation-only, and are not-for-profit.
Global Forums are also hosted by companies.
Last year (2006) the Global Forum took place in Montreal, Canada and was hosted by Alcan.
The next, 12th Global Forum will be hosted by the Irish Institute of Public Administration and Hewlett Packard and will take place in Dublin, Ireland from 19-22 June.
The 13th Global Forum will take place in Seoul, South Korea from 17-20 June, 2008 and will be hosted by the Korean Action Learning Association.
